About Highett Street Veterinary Hospital
Dr Jamie Andrews BVSc (Hons) MRCVS established Highett Street Veterinary Hospital in Mansfield in 1986. Originally founded with a strong focus on large animal medicine, the practice has evolved alongside the growing community and now provides dedicated veterinary care exclusively for small animals.
At the heart of the clinic are the values of honesty, integrity and compassionate care. Every treatment recommendation is made with your pet's best interests in mind, with the goal of achieving the best possible outcome while minimising stress for both pets and their owners. The practice is committed to providing clear communication, transparent pricing and practical, cost-effective care.
Surgery is recommended only when it is genuinely in your pet's best interests, and treatment estimates can be provided before any procedure is undertaken.
A proud local, Jamie was born at Mansfield Hospital in 1956 and spent his childhood in the Mansfield farming community at Gundamain Pastoral Company on the Delatite River. After completing his final four years of schooling as a boarder at Scotch College in Melbourne, he studied Veterinary Science at the University of Melbourne, graduating with Honours.
Following graduation, Jamie gained valuable experience working in six veterinary practices across three countries before returning home to Mansfield in 1986 to establish Highett Street Veterinary Hospital. More than four decades later, he continues to provide experienced, personalised veterinary care to generations of local families and their pets.
